WHY GLASS LIZZARD™?
As a future-facing skincare brand, we chose the name Glass Lizzard for its ability to transcend the everyday. Glass is a nod to the glass skin trend born in Korea, which refers to skin so luminous and smooth that it resembles glass. Lizzard grounds that concept, representing resilience and earthiness — plus, it's just fun. Together, they represent the balance and innovation we bring to your skin and skincare routine.
Hi there, I’m Jason! Born and raised in Southern California, I first got into skincare when I started getting a combination of cystic acne, eczema, and keloid scars at the age of 11. From derm-recommended lines and prescriptions to Asian skincare trends and even DIY remedies, keeping my skin healthy became a regular part of my life early on.
The silver lining was that skincare became something of a creative outlet. My personal experience motivated me to learn more about maintaining healthy skin and helped me develop deep compassion for others with skin issues. Over the years, I began helping my own friends and family build skincare routines to address their unique skin concerns.
Since then, I’ve learned that effective skincare basically comes down to one important concept:
Factor in the full context of your skincare routine
This goes unnoticed when skincare products are marketed to the public. For instance, brands may focus heavily on “amazing” ingredients. While they’re undeniably the core of any skincare product and regimen, other factors — like correct product sequencing, gentle textures, derm-backed methods, and potential lifestyle changes — can make or break your skincare approach easier than one might think.
Plus, I was frustrated to find that many brands simply slap a premium on a ground-breaking ingredient. They also practice selective gender marketing, which excludes certain demographics from reaping the benefits of skin-health information.
What started out as sketching outlines of my dream company and designs of would-be product collections for a year turned into my decision to start a real consumer-focused brand. I imagined an inclusive, forward-thinking skincare movement to help all people build their best routine using information + carefully designed products powered by wider, clinically-backed standards of skin-beneficial factors.
My mission as a founder is to guide anyone and everyone and help them excel in their own skincare approach through a modern and informative experience. Inspired by the creative outlet that skincare has given me to express my individuality, I want to nurture an actively inclusive community that reflects these values for all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, provides access to in-depth skincare resources, and encourages all to share self-care moments freely.
